New York City Romp

Romper: Urban Outfitters  Tote: Rachel Comey  Shoes: Steve Madden

I know it's been a long time since I've posted on my blog.  I had to take a break to focus on other areas of my life.  I've been fortunate enough to get out of Los Angeles for a couple of months, and spend it in New York CIty.  The city that inspires me to no end--it's full of life, and the energy is electric.

The summer on the east coast is drastically different from the west.  In order to be comfortable in the heat and humidity--rompers have been my go-to here.  They're easy, stylish, and this season there is an abundant selection to choose from.  They also go easily from day to night.  Another essential for me has been a big tote, or an oversized bag.  When you're in a city that is non-stop you certainly don't have time to go home for a quick change.  Always be prepared with a light jacket, and some flats (because your heels will do a ton of walking).

Also, the winner of the Eric Javits handbag was Cassie Korando @ckorando of Murphysboro, IL.  Congrats again, Cassie!

Pleasant Surprise in a Golden Tote

Blouse:  Golden Tote

I was recently approached by this fantastic company called Golden Tote.  The company was founded by two designers/stylists who personally curate designer items to your individual taste.  All you do is select one item ($49 tote), or two items ($149 tote) and fill out a short style profile.  Then, the professional team hand picks the rest of the items in your tote depending on your unique style.  Who doesn't love a surprise?  It makes shopping fun, and takes the stress off of finding that perfect piece.

If you'd like to experience your own personal shopping experience, sign up here.  The items move fast so be sure to sign up to be alerted of the monthly sale.  I can't wait for my next tote!

I'd also like to introduce you to the new addition in my life, Ralphie boy!  My boyfriend, and I rescued Ralphie from Bichon and Buddies last month.  We couldn't be happier with our new obsession.  He's a bit camera shy, but hopefully in time will get the hang of shooting with me.  I encourage any of you contemplating on a new pet to adopt.  There were so many great options at the shelter that it took us 3 hours to decide.  Ultimately, Ralph chose us!  And he came completely housebroken, and ready to love.  If you're in the LA area, Bichon and Buddies gives you the option to foster before making the big decision to adopt.  Check them out!

Coachella: Playful Prints

Top: Forever 21  Shorts: Urban Outfitters  Necklace: Topshop
Handbag: Stella & Jamie  Boots: Matisse
Photos by David Lim

This fun, flowy outfit is my last pick for Coachella.  I just love mixing prints--this playful combination of polka dots, and florals is perfect for the festival.  The shorts are ultra thin so it almost feels like you're not wearing a thing.  Which is perfect when you need comfort from letting loose from morning to evening.  Hope you have a grand time if you're headed to Coachella this weekend!

There's less than two weeks to enter to win this gorgeous Eric Javits Carroll handbag (retail $325).  It was featured in my blog post Coachella: Free Spirit & A Giveaway.  Details on how to enter are below--you have until Friday, May 2, 2014 at 3 pm PST to enter. Winner will be randomly drawn. Good luck!

Less has never been better especially when dancing under the hot desert sun.  For those headed to Coachella this weekend be prepared for scorching hot days, and cool windy nights. You'll definitely want to pack a light jacket, and keep your shades around for the evening.  Your sunglasses will protect your eyes from the sandstorms that hit at night.  Last, but not least, don't forget your SPF.  Regardless of that perfect outfit, a bad sunburn is not a good look.

There's still plenty of time to enter to win this gorgeous Eric Javits Carroll handbag (retail $325).  It was featured in my last blog post Coachella: Free Spirit & A Giveaway.  Details on how to enter are below--you have until Friday, May 2, 2014 at 3 pm PST to enter. Coachella: Free Spirit & A Giveaway

Shoes: Dolce Vita, Handbag: Eric Javits
Photos by David Lim

It's the opening weekend of Coachella--one of the biggest music festivals in the U.S.A.  The festival is about the fashion as much as it is about the music.  I was asked by Pose.com to take over their instagram account (@poseapp) for Coachella fashion, and to promote their exciting new platform Pose Marketplace (stay tuned).  Details, and photos of my Coachella inspired outfits will be posted in three parts on my blog within the next week.  My first outfit is vintage mixed with modern pieces.  This gorgeous silk embroidered vintage top was paired with 501 Levi's Limited Editions (#8 out of 100). I love the pop of coral color from the silk flowers, and handbag.

Want to step-up your handbag game this spring/summer?  I'm giving one lucky winner this pretty little handbag by one of my favorite designers, Eric Javits (Retail $325).  It's simple to enter-- just see the rules below.  You have until Friday, May 2, 2014 at 3 pm PST to enter. Winner will be randomly drawn. Good luck!

City by the Bay

Booties: Dolce Vita  Handbag: Eric Javits

I've been in and out of San Francisco a few times, but never had a chance to fully see the city.  So when my boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway there (one of his favorite places) as part of my Valentine's present...I was ecstatic.  We started off by staying a night in Big Sur, words and photos don't describe the beauty of this place.  It may be one of the most breathtaking places on earth! We stayed at the Ventana Inn & Spa a perfect little gem tucked away in the woods.   You'll most definitely spot a family of deer while enjoying a glass of wine watching the sunset from your hammock.

We spent the rest of our weekend in San Francisco.  My boyfriend has been on location in the city several times so he was my ideal tour guide.   We stayed at the Hotel Vitale located on the waterfront in the Embarcadero/Financial district. We took in the gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the top of Hawk Hill and city view from Twin Peaks.  And, of course, we ate-- fresh oysters at The Ferry Building, perfect roasted chicken at Zuni Cafe, inventive kung pao pastrami at Mission Chinese, crab pasta at Slanted Door, crab cocktail at Swan Oyster Depot, and loads of wine, coffee, dessert.  The weekend couldn't have been better!

I'm excited about several collaborations coming up.  First up will be an instagram takeover for Pose.com on April 11th for Coachella.  Make sure you follow them on instagram @poseapp to see the Coachella inspired fashion I'll be posting.

Blush in High Heels

Top: Stella & Jamie  Pants: H&M  Heels: Aldo
Photos by Katie Parker

Not as cool as black maybe because blush has an ultra feminine connotation.  Whatever the reason, this soft color can enhance your skin tone and accentuate your favorite makeup.  I like how the zipper detail in the pants add a bit of edge to the outfit.  Lastly, pointed toe-heels...I can't get enough.  These Aldo heels are one of my favorites (and no I wasn't paid to write this).  Some wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of shoes less than a mortgage payment.  But, truthfully, I love what I love.  So hand me the Choos and the Maddens.  If I love you then you're coming home with me.  Simple as that.

P.S..  Bury me in heels please.

The animal print is not a fleeting trend.  It's always in style especially the classic black-and-tan.  I always keep several pieces of this bold print in my wardrobe.  Whether it's a clutch, an over-sized coat or a scarf--let your inner glamour girl say yes (rawr!) to this daring pattern.

My Valentine

I've been the girl who loves holidays with the exception of Valentine's Day.  I'm usually the one rolling my eyes when I see all the aisles in the stores turn pink with hearts everywhere.  My tradition of singles' night out, or drowning in wine, and chocolate cake came to an end this year.  I finally had myself a Valentine and it was a special occasion.

Some opt to wear red on this holiday, but I think it's nice to stray from the predictable.  I also picked something that wasn't too over the top dressy yet still stay feminine.  This blouse and skirt from H&M was perfect for a romantic night with my love.

I hope you enjoyed Valentine's Day with friends or your special someone.

Faux Love

I traveled to St. Petersburg, and Moscow years ago and fell in love with the beauty of Russia.  I was captivated by the people, fashion, and culture.  I came home with gorgeous scarves, and jewelry from the street markets.  This outfit was influenced by my trip to Russia and the street fashion that I witnessed there.

This ushanka inspired hat and gummy skinny jeans are perfect for animal lovers.  Faux fur and leather look just as chic as the real deal.  I found my hat at Forever 21 awhile ago, but here is a similar one from Etsy.  Guarantee you'll stay warm and fashionable especially if you've been trapped in this polar vortex.

I think I'm ready for Sochi! Wishful thinking...

Winter White

The winter months are a great time to wear white.  The key to wearing white on white is to accessorize. Try a printed scarf in bold colors to perk things up.  My Hermes scarf is my new favorite accessory-- the colors are vibrant and print is beautiful making me want to wear it with everything.  Scarves are an essential piece to have in your wardrobe and can be worn a million ways.  My personal favorite is to adorn my hair with one elevating a simple outfit.  Light is limited during the cold winter months.  What better time than to brighten things up and in style?

Katie and I decided to shoot in one of our favorite antique stores in downtown LA called Olde Good Things.  I could spend hours and my life savings in stores like this.  I almost walked away with the elephant!

Just the basics is what I gravitate towards on those busy days.  You simply can't go wrong with a classic white t-shirt and Levi's jeans.  My DVF bag is the perfect accessory to compliment this effortless look.  The hardware on the bag isn't over the top yet adds just the right touch.  It's also roomy enough for my ipad, moleskin, and daily accoutrements.  Basically, a charming handbag or scarf is all you need to transform plain to fresh.

Deep berry tones compliment almost every skin tone, and light up your best features.  The richness of this color is dramatic, elegant and is sure to turn heads.  This season's love affair with the different shades of berry makes it easy to incorporate into your style.  Whether it's makeup, clothes, or accessories try on the shade that's right for you and you'll be sure to make an impression.

"And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been."

Tis the season to celebrate and be merry.  What better way to do it than with some sparkle?  I know sequins and sparkle seem predictable during the holidays.  But, they're like wearing an exclamation point so you better believe that I'm jumping on this bandwagon.  Besides, we all worked hard throughout the year, it's OK to close it out like a disco ball.  Let your hair down and shine!

I started this blog as a passion project less than a year ago and have received a lot of support.  Thank you all for the love.  Wishing you and yours a very happy holiday season!  xx

sweater dress (noun), 1. understated sexy.

The sweater dress is another classic favorite of mine.  Depending on how cold the climate--they can be styled in multiple ways.  This Vince cashmere sweater dress is effortlessly stylish in a perfect shade of pumpkin spice. Since I'm in Los Angeles, I opted for bare legs and my Matisse booties.  It's a perfect date night outfit for your special love.

Enthusiastically ringing in the holiday season with bells on.  These high-waisted 7 For All Mankind bell bottoms are a nice switch from all the skinnies.  The fit and dark denim wash makes them dressy enough to wear to the office into the evening for that holiday happy hour.
This plaid jacket from Thread & Supply is a great holiday gift.  It's a wool blend and the plaid was custom made by the designers so you won't find it anywhere else.  Best part is it's under $100.  Happy shopping!

Overall Harmony

Sometimes it's the opposites that create harmony.  Overalls with lace and a tweed jacket make for an unexpected combination.  This must-have Valen jacket from Stella & Jamie will be 50% off at Rue La La!  I love it with anything casual or even over a little black dress.  My lace obsession has spanned over several decades now.  This top I found many moons ago and has become a staple in my wardrobe.  I don't recommend hoarding, but if you've got a keeper then hold on tight.

Mix and match prints and patterns for that perfect marriage.

A bit of fun in something unexpected.  You don't have to save that sequin skirt for a night out on the town.  Instead, take this skirt from a day event into your evening one by pairing it with a casual jacket and boots.  This anorak particularly in this color goes with just about everything.  Thread & Supply offers one with gold details and soft faux fur just in time for your fall/winter wardrobe.

A big shout to Absolute Temptation for sending me fun arm, and neck candy!
