I've been the girl who loves holidays with the exception of Valentine's Day.  I'm usually the one rolling my eyes when I see all the aisles in the stores turn pink with hearts everywhere.  My tradition of singles' night out, or drowning in wine, and chocolate cake came to an end this year.  I finally had myself a Valentine and it was a special occasion.

Some opt to wear red on this holiday, but I think it's nice to stray from the predictable.  I also picked something that wasn't too over the top dressy yet still stay feminine.  This blouse and skirt from H&M was perfect for a romantic night with my love.

I hope you enjoyed Valentine's Day with friends or your special someone.

When I was a tater tot I'd wait by the window and run outside to greet my Pops every time he came home.  He is a huge part of the reason why I am who I am today.  Growing up he would fill the house with songs from the records of Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Yves Montand, Beatles, etc.  And one of my favorite childhood memories is when I would step up on top of his feet and we would dance together.  His passion for the arts--storytelling, photography, history--inspires me.  Pops is a man full of integrity, kindness, love, compassion and has taught us (my brother and I) the meaning of dependability, living for the greater good, and value of family.  I'm so grateful for my Babbi!  Happy Father's Day to all the dads that are doing an amazing job!

She listens, she gives advice, she holds your hand, she cooks, she cleans, she works full-time, she makes you laugh, she laughs (even when you're not that funny), she accepts, she supports, she sacrifices, she stands her ground, she's always there for you, she loves you with all her heart...she is my mother and I am truly blessed.  To all the amazing moms out there--hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! You all are real life superheroes!

My loving Puppy

I've been grieving the loss of my family's dog, Puppy/Ewok, for the past couple of days.  My Mom and Pops called yesterday afternoon to tell me that they didn't think Puppy would make it through the night.  My parents had to make the difficult decision of letting him go in peace rather than suffering another day.  I live in Los Angeles, but my family is still in Maryland.  It broke my heart not to physically say goodbye to my dog, and to be with my family during this time.  Our dog was more than a pet; he was our baby.  He had two names--my brother and I called him Puppy, and my parents referred to him as Ewok.  He was incredibly intelligent; even understood both English and Korean.  Puppy brought so much happiness into our lives.  He would've been 18 years old this June.  Thank you to all my amazing, loving friends and family who have called to send their love.  It's been more painful than our family could have imagined.  Those of you who have pets understand this remarkable bond that becomes only stronger over the years.  Their unconditional love is so pure and simple.  I will miss Puppy dearly.  1995-2013
