I've been in and out of San Francisco a few times, but never had a chance to fully see the city.  So when my boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway there (one of his favorite places) as part of my Valentine's present...I was ecstatic.  We started off by staying a night in Big Sur, words and photos don't describe the beauty of this place.  It may be one of the most breathtaking places on earth! We stayed at the Ventana Inn & Spa a perfect little gem tucked away in the woods.   You'll most definitely spot a family of deer while enjoying a glass of wine watching the sunset from your hammock.

We spent the rest of our weekend in San Francisco.  My boyfriend has been on location in the city several times so he was my ideal tour guide.   We stayed at the Hotel Vitale located on the waterfront in the Embarcadero/Financial district. We took in the gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the top of Hawk Hill and city view from Twin Peaks.  And, of course, we ate-- fresh oysters at The Ferry Building, perfect roasted chicken at Zuni Cafe, inventive kung pao pastrami at Mission Chinese, crab pasta at Slanted Door, crab cocktail at Swan Oyster Depot, and loads of wine, coffee, dessert.  The weekend couldn't have been better!

I'm excited about several collaborations coming up.  First up will be an instagram takeover for Pose.com on April 11th for Coachella.  Make sure you follow them on instagram @poseapp to see the Coachella inspired fashion I'll be posting.

Blush in High Heels

Not as cool as black maybe because blush has an ultra feminine connotation.  Whatever the reason, this soft color can enhance your skin tone and accentuate your favorite makeup.  I like how the zipper detail in the pants add a bit of edge to the outfit.  Lastly, pointed toe-heels...I can't get enough.  These Aldo heels are one of my favorites (and no I wasn't paid to write this).  Some wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of shoes less than a mortgage payment.  But, truthfully, I love what I love.  So hand me the Choos and the Maddens.  If I love you then you're coming home with me.  Simple as that.

P.S..  Bury me in heels please.

On the Go

We all have those days when we only have 10 minutes to pull it together.  The trick is to get ready in 10, but not look like you have rolled out of bed.  When I lose track of time or I'm running late, I reach for my uniform which are jeans and a t-shirt.  In this case, I went old-school with my Moschino tee from college, and H&M jeans. To add style to this casual look;  I pulled my hair in a messy bun, applied Shiseido in Shimmering Rouge (it's light, moisturizing, sheer), and put on a pair of cool shoes by Alexander Wang.  If you're out and about during the day then you have the advantage of wearing no eye makeup, and hiding behind some shades.  An hour to get ready?  As Sweet Brown says "Ain't nobody got time for that."

The Stripe Type

Monochrome particularly in stripes is super hot now. Contrary to what you may think, horizontal stripes have more of a slimming look and there's even a science behind it.  Don't avoid the stripe hype just because you're afraid of looking wide or like a jailbird.  The slimmer the stripes the slimmer the illusion. My look is bigger stripes on little stripes (skort has thin lines) with a pop of color.  And yes, the skort!  It's the great bluff--the comfort of shorts with the look of a skirt.  So are you the horizontal or vertical type?

Short and Sweet

A must have for spring/summer 2013 is the shorts suit.  Say goodbye to the classic pant suit and show off those gorgeous legs of yours.  I'm wearing a two-piece by Stella & Jamie and what's great about this is it's perfect for a night out.  If you want to change up wearing a dress for that special event then I highly recommend a feminine, fun shorts suit.  Below are several different takes on the shorts suit--you can find the perfect one for your style or occasion.

Living in Los Angeles and working in the entertainment industry, I always have events to attend.  I normally wear a dress, but this past week I opted for a lovely shorts suit by Stella & Jamie.  Showing off your legs is sometimes enough to make a statement without baring too much.  So I'm currently in love with the conservative yet foxy look.  John Singleton, the genius filmmaker behind BOYZ N THE HOOD, POETIC JUSTICE, HIGHER LEARNING, and much more was honored by the DGA.  John Singleton welcomed me into his family many years ago and since then we have become exactly that--brother/sister from another mother/father.  I always look froward to his events because it becomes one big family reunion.  Below are some photos from a wonderful evening.  I apologize for the quality of photos as they were taken in a rush.

Spring Fling

I love this dress by Stella & Jamie; it's perfect for spring and summer.  What I love the most is that it's appropriate for almost any occasion.  You can throw a blazer over it during the day with some flats then slip into some fun heels to transform your look for a night out.  It's flirty and fun without revealing too much.  Perfect for that special date or girls-night-out!

For those who aren't familiar with Stella & Jamie; I love them.  They are based out of Los Angeles and their clothes compliment every type of body.  April Mun, the owner and designer, is so kind and talented.  I'll be featuring their clothes and accessories a lot on my blog.  I love supporting local designers--and when you know they are great people--it's a bonus.
