Deep berry tones compliment almost every skin tone, and light up your best features.  The richness of this color is dramatic, elegant and is sure to turn heads.  This season's love affair with the different shades of berry makes it easy to incorporate into your style.  Whether it's makeup, clothes, or accessories try on the shade that's right for you and you'll be sure to make an impression.

"And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been."

--Ranier Maria Rilke

Wishing you a new year full of opportunity, courage to fulfill, faith to believe.  And most important of all, to love and be loved.  Happy New Year!

My nickname has been Sueanna Banana for years so it's only natural that I'm drawn to this banana print.  The pattern is vibrant and colorful which is fitting for summer.  The key to wearing print from top to bottom is to accessorize so you avoid looking like a walking curtain.  I kept it fairly simple with this cool necklace that I found at the flea market and a fresh white clutch. Be bold this summer with bright patterns!

Star Bright

4th of July is right around the corner so what better time than to wear this star adorned tube skirt.  If you're petite and wearing a tube skirt make sure you wear a top that shows off the high waist so it elongates your frame.  To liven up the neutral tones, I added a pop of color with this highlighter yellow tank, and Pink Nouveau lipstick by M.A.C..   To complete the look and throw in a bit of edge to a girly outfit--I chose this faux leather biker jacket.  Ready for my hot date!

Modus operandi of most women is to look fashionable while comfortable.  So if you haven't jumped on the slouchy pants trend then you're missing out.  I never want this to go out of style!  Don't let these trousers intimidate you--they actually flatter most body types.  Especially if you haven't been blessed with Giselle Bundchen's legs--these pants elongate the legs because of the high-waist and flow of the fabric make any legs appear slim.  I would definitely pair them with heels to avoid looking like you left the house in your pajama pants.  Easy breezy!

Just Beachy

Hello, Mr. Gull!

With Memorial weekend creeping up and summer right around the corner, the time is now to shop for that swimsuit.  Although the selection can be overwhelming, I dig the ones at H&M. Yes, Beyonce, you can convince me to buy anything.  Where is your favorite place to shop for bathing suits?

Living in California, the beaches are endless and the weather always perfect.  Since the temperatures aren't summer hot yet, I decided on a midi skirt to wear with my bikini on a day in Malibu.  This way I can enjoy the beach and hop on over to brunch at Geoffrey's or Moonshadows (I recommend having a drink at the bar area that's right above the ocean.  I almost always see a family of dolphins). There are bikinis and bathing suits for every type of figure so don't hide your great assets!  Show them off this summer with the perfect suit.

Retro Thursday

Dress: Stella & Jamie, Scarf: Topshop, Shoes: Steve Madden, Clutch: Gucci, Sunglasses: Street Market

For this look, we decided to shoot at the County of Los Angeles Public Library (yes, libraries still exist)!  I've always been inspired by retro fashion.  If I could pick any era to live in it would be the 50s-60s.  The fashion went from feminine & elegant to hippie & daring.  Who wouldn't want to live in an era where you could dress like Jackie O, Dorothy Dandridge, Brigitte Bardot?  If I could, I'd happily walk around all day in a beehive hairdo, little black dress, and gloves.  But, since I'm an old-fashioned gal living in a modern world--I mix the old with the new.  The shape and hemline of this dress is reminiscent of the 50s yet the cut-out detail makes it very modern.  I kept the look simple with no jewelry and instead chose a patterned scarf and circle sunglasses.

Below are some photographs of iconic muses that always did it right.
